Two oil paintings that are related . . .

my breakthrough oil painting (on the left) I painted in November of 2010, when I pushed the envelope from realism to abstraction. The title of "Heliopsis Collapsing into the Tomato Plants" indicates how i thought I was painting from my photo source of my garden, but the source photo was ignored, and I instead, painted the painting self-referentially . . . the painting only referred to itself

Two recent oil paintings that are related . . .

These two oil paintings with INI glyphs are related

(left) oil on canvas and (right) oil on panel . . . to create a luminescent quality on the (right) painting, I mixed in a lot of Galkyd and Linseed oil and turpentine.  Then I mixed yellow and orange oil paints with gold leaf to create very thick, dimensional INI glyphs that shimmer . . .

"Easter Sunday" a family portrait in oil. Again, I incorporate the Polaroid snapshot border as the frame within the frame . . . this photo was taken at at the dining table at St. Frances DeSales Convent in Roxbury, MA where my aunt, Sister Ildephonsus, was the school principal

This was a surrealist inspired painting, a collage of sorts, of my friend Gail Bradley's house, with her wonderful furniture from her family in Romeo, Michigan and my favorite cat of hers, Sam

The source for the painting is another old Polaroid on that Easter Sunday, but I changed the location of the family to the surface of the planet Mars . . . It was fun painting the landing vehicle . . . and the shadows of the Martian boulders in watercolor
